Virginia Gibson, 92, of Buckner, MO passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at her home. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011, at Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams, Buckner, MO 64016. Visitation will be 3-5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2011, in the chapel. Burial in Buckner Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Buckner United Methodist Church, 109 S. Hudson St., Buckner, MO 64014, or Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd., Kansas City, MO 64137. Virginia was born December 2, 1918, in Eastern Jackson County, MO to Robert Virgil and Margaret “Maggie” (Jones) Gibson. She graduated from Central Missouri State University with a degree in Elementary Education and did graduate work at U.M.K.C. Ms. Gibson taught for 40 years, 5 years at Lake City School District, 7 years at Buckner Elementary, and 28 years at Bristol School in Kansas City, MO. Virginia was a member of Beta Omicron chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa honorary educational sorority, Osage AARP, and volunteered at the Blue Springs Blood Bank. She was a faithful and active member of Buckner United Methodist Church and its Women’s Societies. Virginia is survived by her nephews Richard Gibson, Phillip Gibson and wife Jill; great nephews Charles Gibson, Matt Penprase; great-niece Lacey Penprase; and by a host of friends.
