A petition was signed with 200 signatures requesting that the State of Missouri do an audit of the City of Buckner. Many were concerned since the checkbook has not been balanced for several years.

State Auditor Todd Schuler, spoke briefly at the January 19, 2012 Board of Alderman meeting about the audit. The auditors will not only be looking at the accounts but the procedures of the City as well. When the audit is completed in approximately two months, a report will be furnished. Todd went on to say that the State can only point out what could be done to better serve the city and make suggestions, but that the State can not make the City follow their advise but stated that “this is an election year.” As soon as the audit is complete and we can view the report we will let our readers know the outcome.
